Heron Country John Donne
FOR WHOM THE BELL TOLLS
No man is itself
comparable to an island
every man is a piece of the continent,
a portion of land;
away by the sea if a clod, Europe would lose
as if a promontory.
as if a manor
of thy friends or of thine own were.
any man's death diminishes me,
because I am involved in mankind.
So never send
for whom the bell tolls,
tolls for thee.
John Donne, England-1572-1631
